Installation steps

1. You will need to have your seat pan, shox and front mount ready to install as well as your frame ground to bare metal. If you are installing  a retro fit kit you can bolt the lower 1/4" plate to the frame. You will be welding the  brackets to the plate.  Having a pair of clamps handy helps if you are doing this yourself as I did on this install on my personal West Coast Choppers CFL.

2. Place the pan where you want it to sit. Adjust the front mount so you have  1/4" clearance between the frame and seat pan. Make sure the pan is true and square. Measure side to side and use a level to get the front mount level. You can adjust front to back and seat height at this time. You can place the shox stright up and down or up to 45 degree backwards. DO NOT LEAN FORWARD!!!! They will bind. You can also make drop down brackets if you want your seat really low.

3. Place the shox where they will have good function either  in front or behind the cross tube. Leave 1" minimum clearance under the seat pan to the frame and 1/4" under the front so leather can be added without contact of the seat to the frame..

4. Once you are sure of the placement, tack the front mount and the shocks to the frame and seat pan. (Cover the shox with tape to avoid welding splatter) Tack the shock tabs.

5. Re-check seat placement, If ok, remove the seat pan from the frame, remove the shox from the brackets and weld the tabs onto the pan and the frame.  Do not weld the tabs with the shox installed. YOU WILL MELT THE BUSHINGS.

6. Let cool and re-Install.....Installation takes approx 30-45  minutes depending on skills.....

Frame ground to bare metal.
Pan test fitted to the frame.
Shox are covered to prevent splatter from welding.
Seat pan checked with shox and mount position is good. Front mount then tacked to the pan. Front of pan bent to contour the frame.
Front mount then tacked to the frame once the position is confirmed.
Dual shox held with clamp to finalize placement. The tabs are tacked to the pan after confirmation of placement..
Lower tabs are fully welded after the shox , seat pan and front mount are removed. Weld the front moun to the frame. Weld the tabs to the frame and seat pan. Let cool and install. Finished install. Took me 35 minutes without help. I have done this a few times..
